미쉘 포킨(Michel Fokine)의 작품에 내재된 문화의 교섭과 혼종적 특징 연구: 발레 뤼스(Ballet Russee)의 초기 활동을 중심으로

초록
본 연구는 발레 뤼스의 초기 작품에 나타난 문화의 교섭과 혼종적 특징을 알아보는데 목적을 두고, 발레 뤼스의 첫 번째 안무가인 미쉘 포킨의 네 작품을 분석하였다. 작품에서 발견되는 문화의 교섭과 혼종적 특징은 이국적 정취가 가미되거나 러시아적 색채가 도입된 작품으로 구분하여 논의하였으며. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작품의 주제로는 팜프 파탈의 호색적인 내용이나 러시아의 향수를 불러일으키는 소재가 사용되었다. 둘째, 무대 미술에는 풍부한 색채사용과 독특한 색의 조합이 강조되었다. 셋째, 의상이나 소품은 이국의 지역적·문화적 특성이 반영되거나 러시아 토착문화에서 영감을 받았다. 넷째, 무용수의 동양적 이미지가 강조되고 새로운 발레 캐릭터를 제시했다. 이러한 작품의 특징은 이국주의가 증대된 파리의 유행을 부추겼고, 발레 뤼스 초기 정체성 확립에 큰 역할을 했다.
Abstract
This study analyzed four works of Michel Fokine, the first choreographer of Ballet Russes, with the purpose of examining the cultural interaction and hybridity characteristics of the early works of Ballet Russes. The cultural interaction and hybridity characteristics found in the works could be discussed by dividing them into works with an exotic atmosphere or Russian colors. The results of the discussion are as follows. First, as the theme of the work, the material that evokes nostalgic content of femme fatale or Russia was used. Second, rich use of colors and unique color combinations were emphasized in stage art. Third, costumes and props reflect the regional and cultural characteristics of foreign countries or were inspired by Russian indigenous culture. Fourth, the oriental image of the dancer was emphasized and a new ballet character was presented. The characteristics of these works fueled the exotic fashion in Paris and played a big role in establishing the identity of the early Ballets Russes.
