물리학적 관점에서 본 요안 부르주아(Yoann Bourgeois)의 안무 특성 연구 : 뉴턴의 운동 법칙을 중심으로

본 연구는 물리학적 관점에서 본 요안 부르주아의 안무 특성을 파악함으로써 융복합 공연예술가들의 작품을 다양한 관점으로 바라보고 작품에 내재되어 있는 과학적 현상을 폭넓게 이해할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위한 방법으로 물리학에 대한 담론을 고찰하였고, 요안 부르주아의 작품을 물리학 중 뉴턴의 운동 법칙인 관성, 작용·반작용, 중력 등을 중심으로 분석하였다. 물리학적 관점에서 본 요안 부르주아의 안무 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서커스 장치의 수용으로 중력 하강, 중력을 버텨내는 힘, 구심력 등 뉴턴의 운동원리에 준하는 ‘일련의 법칙’들을 활용하였다. 둘째, 서커스 동작의 원리와 무용, 물리학 이론의 결합으로 움직임 영역에 있어 새로운 대안을 제시하였다. 이처럼 무용예술과 서커스, 물리학과의 융합은 예술의 표현확장에 있어 큰 의미를 가진다. 표현의 확장은 일부 구성원들만 향유할 수 있었던 무용을 일반인들이 쉽게 접할 수 있는 예술로 변화시키고, 무용예술이 가지는 한계점인 소통의 부재로부터 해방시켜 무용예술에 지속적인 관심이 이어질 것으로 예견된다.

This study aims to take a look at the works of convergence performing artists and provide an opportunity to have a comprehensive understanding of scientific phenomena that are internalized in works by understanding characteristics of Yoann Bourgeois' choreography from the physical perspectives. As a method for the foregoing, this study considered a discourse on physics, and analyzed Yoann Bourgeois' works based on Newton's laws of motion such as inertia, action·reaction and gravity in physics. Characteristics of Yoann Bourgeois' choreography viewed from the physical perspectives are as follows. First, as acceptance of circus device, this study used ‘a set of rules’ equivalent to the basic principle of physics and Newton's laws of motion such as gravitational descent, force enduring gravity, centripetal force etc. Second, this study suggested a new alternative in the field of motion by combining principle of circus motion, dance and theory of physics. As such, convergence of art of dance, circus and physics has a great significance in extension of expression in arts. Extension of expression is expected to lead to continuous interest in the art of dance as it changes dance which was enjoyed only by some members into the art that the general public can access easily, and liberates dance from the lack of communication which is a limit of the art of dance.
