평양검무의 전승과 활성화 모색을 위한 분석연구

Analysis on the Transmission and Revitalization of Pyongyang Sword Dance

초록

본 연구는 평양검무의 활성화 방안 모색을 위한 분석 연구로서 한국 무용전공생 200명을 대상으로 설문 조사 및 평양 검무 전문가 2인과 문화재위원 2인 총 4명의 전문가 심층 면담을 진행하였다. 평양검무는 무형문화재 전문위원들과 함께 3회의 원형복원 과정을 진행하였고 현재 평양검무보존회에서 전문가 양성교육과 공연을 통해 전승을 이어가고 있으며, 그 원류가 북한 지역이나, 현재는 남한에서도 복원과 전승을 한정적으로 이어가고 있다. 평양검무는 남북한의 분단 상황을 넘어서는 보존과 전승의 가치가 있다. 평양검무에 관한 무용인들의 인식은 있으나 적은 횟수의 공연과 홍보 부족으로 인하여 대중성이 떨어진다. 다른 검무에 비해 평양검무는 춤사위가 크고 활발하며 머리 윗 사위가 주조를 이루는 차별성을 가지는데, 특히, 팔 위에 칼을 얹지 않고 손목을 돌려 칼을 돌리는 돌림사위 동작은 예술적 가치로서 의미가 있다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 평양검무의 활성화를 위해서, 공연의 레퍼토리를 개발하고 교육의 기회 제공을 통해 다양한 홍보가 진행되어야 한다. 평양검무를 이어갈 수 있는 전문성을 갖춘 무용인을 지속적으로 양성해야 하고, 다양한 평양검무 관련 콘텐츠가 개발됨으로써 대중들에게 관람의 기회가 증대될 수 있는 환경을 만들어야 하는 과제를 안겨주고 있다. 이상을 바탕으로 후속 연구를 위한 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구의 설명력을 높이기 위해서 확률적 표집을 만들어서 제시해야 한다. 둘째, 후속 연구에서 평양검무의 다양한 콘텐츠 프로그램을 조사, 분석하고, 그것이 대중의 인지도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 관한 연구 결과를 제시한다. 셋째, 전통 무용의 범위에서 평양검무가 가지는 위상을 넓히고, 평양검무가 전통 무용 발전에 도움을 줄 수 있는 역할에 대해서 추가 연구를 해야 할 것이라 사료된다.

Abstract

As an analytical study to find ways to revitalize Pyongyang Sword Dance, 200 Korean dance majors were surveyed and in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 4 experts, 2 experts in Pyongyang Sword Dance and 2 members of cultural heritage. Pyongyang Sword Dance has been restored to its original form three times with experts in intangible cultural properties, and the Pyongyang Sword Dance Preservation Society continues to pass it down through expert training and performances. continues on a limited basis. Pyongyang Sword Dance is worth preserving and transmitting beyond the situation of division between North and South Korea. Dancers are aware of Pyongyang Sword Dance, but its popularity is low due to the small number of performances and lack of publicity. Compared to other sword dances, Pyongyang Sword Dance has large and lively dance movements, and the top of the head is the main focus. In particular, the turning movement, in which the sword is turned by turning the wrist without placing the sword on the arm, is meaningful as an artistic value. Based on these research results, in order to revitalize Pyongyang Sword Dance a variety of publicity should be conducted through developing a performance repertoire and providing educational opportunities. It is necessary to continuously nurture dancers with expertise to continue Pyongyang Sword Dance, and as various contents related to Pyongyang Sword Dance are developed, the public is given the task of creating an environment in which opportunities for viewing can be increased. Based on the above, suggestions for follow-up research are as follows. First, in order to increase the explanatory power of the study, a probabilistic sampling should be created and presented. Second, in follow-up research, various contents programs of Pyongyang Sword Dance are investigated and analyzed, and research results on how they affect public awareness are presented. Third, it is considered that the status of Pyongyang Sword Dance should be expanded in the scope of traditional dance, and additional research should be conducted on the role that Pyongyang Sword Dance can help in the development of traditional dance.
